FAQ

As you prepare for your wedding day, you are likely to have many questions about the different services you’re booking.  Below, you will find a list of questions commonly asked about our videography services.

Why should I have a wedding video?
There is nothing like a video to capture all the sights and sounds of your wedding day, an event which has become one of the major social events in a person’s life.  What better opportunity is there to capture all of your family and friends and create a classic heirloom to be cherished for years to come?  Many couples tell us that having a wedding video is the best thing they did on their wedding day.

Can’t a friend or family member video my wedding?
Certainly, but don’t expect professional results.  Image Street has over 10 years of experience and we know all the ins and outs of capturing such an important event.  We offer high-definition video, professional microphones, tripods and much more to deliver the best quality for your video.

Won’t the cameramen be obtrusive and disruptive?
We have heard horror stories of bright lights during the ceremony and videographers stepping right up between the minister and the couple.  Image Street makes every effort to record your wedding unobtrusively using a documentary filming style.  We attempt to inform the bride and groom of any issues that may be foreseeable and get their advice for what they want us to do.

How should I choose a videographer?
It’s a fact of life that price plays a key role in determining your selection of professionals and there is a photographer and videographer for every budget.  Once you determine your spending limit, then you can begin to evaluate your professionals for quality, experience, and compatibility.

Ask your prospective videographer what equipment he or she will use at your wedding.  More importantly, who will be operating that equipment?  Ask to see a sample of that person’s work.  Don’t merely watch promotional videos – ask to see actual weddings with actual sound.

What should I look for in a professional video?
The picture and sound should be crystal clear.  The titles should look professional and be easily read.  An edited production should be tightly and tastefully edited making the tape more enjoyable to watch than real time raw footage.  Special effects should be enhancements to the production and not appear “gimmicky.”

Will my photographer and my videographer work together?
Photographers and videographers get along just fine.  That’s how many of the friendships we have with other vendors developed!  It is a great pleasure to work with our friends time and time again.

What if my church has restrictions on video?
Let us know if your church or other venue has restrictions on video or photography.  Many churches and synagogues have guidelines such as no flash photography and no moving around during the ceremony.  We understand and respect these rules.  The place of worship is not a television studio.

We strive to place a camera in a position that affords us a clear view during the ceremony.  This is not always possible because some churches restrict all videotaping to the balcony only.  Be sure to find out what is allowed before you contract with a videographer or a photographer.

Should I account for the videographers at the reception?
We are on the job for sometimes up to 12 hours between the time we arrive at the bride’s home and the time we leave the reception.  It is a welcome courtesy if you allow us to take part as one of your guests at the reception.  This is almost always true for your other vendors, too!

Should I sign a contract?
A contract protects both you and the videographer.  Be sure it is comprehensive and clear.

How many cameras do you use?
We have multiple cameras that we use for events.  We are happy to consult with you to determine a proper number of cameras.  The number of cameras used for an event varies but we use up to 4 cameras.

Will you use wireless microphones?
Image Street uses a wireless microphone system during the ceremony. This offers a quick setup, and the groom usually wears the “clip-on” microphone.  Be sure to check with your church or synagogue to see if there are any restrictions on the use of wireless equipment.

What will you film at the reception?
In our experience, there are six main parts of a reception which we film: (1) the wedding party introductions (2) the first dance, (3) the toast, (4) the cake cutting, (5) the bouquet and garter toss, and (6) the couple leaving the reception. If you would like other events filmed, please inform us in the contract. We try our best to capture all events and, in particular, those that you specifically point out to us.

What about guest interviews?
Generally, we do not go around from table to table putting people on the spot to “say something for the bride and groom”.  We certainly welcome guests to invite us to film their speech to the newlyweds.  We will gladly seek these interviews if you request.

Wedding FAQ

Do I have a choice of music for my video?
You may provide your own music for the video.

How long is the finished video?
The length of the final video depends on a number of factors.  We don’t have a set rule.  A typical video lasts 60-90 minutes.

When will I get my finished video?
Normal production time is 8-12 weeks.  We encourage everyone to gather all photos for the Photo Montage as well as all musical selections and have them to us prior to the wedding. Having all material together upon commencement of editing is important for scheduling purposes.

Can I make copies of my wedding video?
We do not copy protect wedding videos.  You are free to make any copies you wish but please note that we will gladly sell you additional copies with labels and DVD case inserts for a small charge depending on the quantity.  We normally provide extra copies upon request at no extra charge.  Just ask!

Can you edit my home video and put it on DVD, the Internet, or some other media type?
Yes. We offer plans to have your own video edited. Please call to discuss the project specifics and pricing.

Do you charge for mileage?
Generally, we serve the area between Nashville, Tennessee and Huntsville, Alabama.  For events outside of that region, mileage will be discussed according to the video assignment.

What happens if my copies are destroyed?
We try to retain a master copy of the edited video indefinitely. You will be able to contact us and purchase an additional copy.

May I purchase the original, unedited footage?
Just ask us for it. Upon completion of your project, we include all the original footage, in the miniDV format, at no extra cost to you!

How does the videographer charge for services?  Are there packages?  Request a price list.
We offer several packages which you can customize to better suit your needs.  We feel we are very competitively priced with options to fit any bride with any budget.  For that reason, a copy of our wedding video contract is available online.
